Duma

Behind the moniker Duma are Martin Khanja and Sam Karugu, activists in the metal scene of Nairobi, Kenya. Far beyond said «metal», the duo produces a music pushed to the extreme, a haven for chaos, where aggressive noise and saturated, guttural screams flirt with grindcore, breakcore, trap and industrial techno. Their first record was released in 2020 on Nyege Nyege Tapes, a Uganda-based label (also the organiser of an excellent festival bearing the same name) which offers a contemporary vision of the East African music scene.
