Joonas leaves on a search for his two drug-addicted friends who have disappeared in Cambodia. He delves into the films of their previous Thai trips, fueled by amphetamines and prostitutes. A chilling portrait of a youth that has lost its way, but also an illustration of a certain Western arrogance which leads the more naive into the most elementary traps, Lost Boys follows Reindeerspotting: Escape from Santaland (2010), a documentary by Neuvonen dedicated to his friend Jani, a young drug addict from Rovaniemi, Santa Claus’ «official village». After touring the festival circuit, the two went to Bangkok to celebrate their success with their friend Antti. Joonas returned alone to Finland, while his friends remained to make the most of the local advantages, only to disappear without a trace... and to lead to the terrible conclusion that is Lost Boys.
