This film was commissioned by the Lutheran community of Pittsburgh, with the intent of drawing the attention of the public and the authorities on the way the elderly are (mis)treated in society. After three days of shooting in an amusement park, Romero delivered a product worthy of the best episodes of The Twilight Zone... which greatly embarrassed his sponsors. Even though the message was thoroughly conveyed, its overall bleakness was deemed too disturbing to be spread. The film ended up in a box, forgotten by all, until the director's widow unearthed a print in 2018.
