Carte blanche to Nicolas Winding Refn

In the self-indulged, feverous, crazy rush, brought on by the jubilee of our 20th edition, LUFF has yielded to the desire to contact the director of Drive and offer this carte blanche. We were not (solely) stimulated by the potentially glamorous presence of Nicolas Winding Refn, but mainly by this gentleman’s offbeat cinephilia, as displayed in his massive collection entitled The Act of Seeing (La Rabbia edition, 2015) as well as in his devotion to the preservation of obscure films (the restauration of If Footmen Tire You What Will Horses Do? and The Burning Hell – cf. our Christian (Film) Business cinerama – are very much indebted to him). If NWR’s physical absence will inevitably be noticed, his choices will nonetheless allow us to have a look at a few absolute gems, with esthetic qualities splendidly echoing his more radical works, from Pusher to Neon Demon.
